String Sessions At R&T

String Quartet Photo

This past weekend, R&T had the pleasure of tracking a phenomenal group of string musicians. James Cooper (Cello), Burchard Tang (Viola), Valissa Willwerth (1st Violin) and Wallace DePue (2nd Violin) played an arrangement written by Ritchie Rubini for Matthew’s upcoming debut. They hit it right out of the park, not surprisingly considering their long list of credentials including Kanye West, Jennifer Lopez, the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, Philadelphia Orchestra, and the Philly Pops.

Matthew’s upcoming debut is well on it’s way to being complete – all that is left to record is final vocals on 3 songs, then it’s off to final mixing and mastering.

For all the recording nerds: AKG C414 XL II on 1st violin, AT 4060 on 2nd, AKG C414 B-ULS on viola, AT 4047 on Cello, AKG C12VR in omni for room ambience. All running through API 512b mic pres with the room mic getting a taste of compression with a TubeTech CL-1B.
